Fun With Techno

HIGH FIVE W/ WORDLIFE

worldlife-logo-full

At MOTORIK! we’re all about bringing you the freshest of the fresh of the Sydney techno scene, and this month is no different.

We are well chuffed to be introducing you to, the techno droogs…

WORDLIFE

Made up of Sydney hip cats; Kato and Adam, these two bearded wonders have got their shit together.

For their High Five, they’ve put together some underground classics with their picks of the modern wonders, and travel right through the vibe spectrum from headphone journey pieces through to late-nite finger dancing, and even sample the sounds of the cracked-out creep that lies just below the surface of many technomads.

check check…

Kevin Saunderson - “Bassline”

proper melodic space music that twists your brain inside out - has a pretty exciting key change in it which kato loved since even before he knew what a key change was.

Underground Resistance - “Kut”

this track sounds pretty much like militant heavy metal electro with a soul sample over the top - kinda like double 99’s “RIP Groove” for headbangers - there’s some weird rhythmic changes in it so we’re working on an edit or maybe we should just let them fuck with people we can’t decide. On a side note UR are pretty much where it’s at for us old school techno wise - check their
stuff and spin off like Galaxy II Galaxy for some major jams.

(Ed: good luck finding a video of this on the interwebs, in keeping with their militant vibe they’re not that into putting up all their tracks on youtube. neither are their fans apparently. They’ve had no problems maintaining the rage for all these years.)

Martyn - “we are you in the future”

Let’s get back up to date with some 2011 shit - Martyn has basically crammed the history of rave music into this - the final track on his brilliant new album “Ghost People” on flying lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint.

Instra:mental - “Voyuer”

this is pretty much an insane creep anthem - dark proper electro with a screwed down male vocal that’s all like “you look so pretty, look at your hair” we’re not sure how this would go down on a room full of ladies but we have a sneaking suspicion they’d secretly love it.

Lone - “Cobra”

every couple of days we compulsively search for Lone on every major digital store cause we don’t want to miss a thing this cat does. This one popped up on the new R&S compilation ‘IOTDXI’ which is packed with choice grade jams from the likes of James Blake, Model 500, Blawan, Untold, Space Dimension Controller and more…

there it is, a techno journey in 5 movements.

A taste of what WORDLIFE have been vibing on and what their headline, and EP launching, set at MOTORIK! will bring you on Friday 25th Novemeber, 2011.
